Parent Communication and Special "Start-ups"

Here a few examples of some of the parent communication, to give a picture of some of my writing.  These also serve as an example of a few of the new programs that I've been involved in piloting during my time at The Howard School.

This is one example of the daily communication sheet that was used to communicate with parents about our time at school.

Curriculum Maps

During the 5 years in Lower School, my class had a few changes to the overall curriculum.  Much remained, however, including the integrated nature.  These maps hopefully show some of the variety in subject matter.

General Classroom and Rubrics

Here are a few examples of things that I've put together for use with students in relation to classroom management and learning expectations.
Our school was making a point of incorporating Habits of Mind into every classroom.  The Bold items were derived from some work by Mel Levine and I used them help make the Habits a little more concrete for the students.

This is an example of a daily Homework Checkin sheet that we used each morning, to track  completion.

A couple of examples of a ways to help students think about whether their work has met the standards,
depending on the type of assignment.

And a couple that relate to specific projects that students have worked on.

Math and other points

Please feel free to check out the link at right to find The Howard Math Lab blog site, which hopefully gives some good examples of math related teaching, resource building, and my capabilities related to blog design.  I would also be happy to share other examples related to Professional Development sessions that I've led, the summer school program that I've developed and taught for the past 5 years, and older work samples from my time teaching in the Middle School.
